Abstract
In the lnst years, the cultivated surface of Achillea millefolium (Yarrow) h significantly increased in order to produce essential oils and polyphenols for ti'aditional medicine and cosmetic industry.A field experiment was conducted tó evaluate five weed control methods in yarrow: cover crop of white clover, black plastic mulch, com gluten meal, tlame weeding and metribuzin application. Untreated control plots were also estnblished.Weed species composition, total cover imd abundance (thc number ofindividuals and dry weight) of the weed community and abundance of single species were checked every fortnight from yarrow phintatioil to harvest Best weed control was achieved with the pli)Stic mulch and the herbicide trcatrnents. Highest yarrow dry weight was found in tlame weeding, cover crop of white clover and control plots.Plotscovered with plastic mulch showed the highest flower production.
