Resumo
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the life of the cathedrals of the Crown of Castile after the Council of Trent, focusing on the problems to maintain order, silence and cleanliness, not to mention their causes. Thus, the government of the cathedral chapters is studied, and the attitudes of the canons, who were responsible for the cathedrals and the worship that took place in them, as well as the personal and collective factors that explain the absence of a true reform and, as a consequence, the lack of exemplary value of the cathedral clergy and the criticism they received.
