Abstract

The paucity of public data of the mass audience and the different methods ofcomputing impede know precisely how the public reacts to the contents ofscience. At the same time, new technologies allow experimenting withinstantaneous communication and closeness between scientists and the public, allowing real-time dissemination of methodologies and certain works of thescientific research process prior to obtaining results. In this contribution wepresent the results of a pilot public archeology project, in which journalists andscientists worked together for real-time dissemination of the findings of anarchaeological campaign. The results demonstrated the potential of popularscience journalistic formats for transmitting unfamiliar parts of the scientificprocess like methodology, and provided data to understand how the audiencegrowth is linked to the production of content.
