Resumo

This work begins a series of contributions referring to different aspects of the vegetal communities of vascular plants that appear in the mostly temperate territories of the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. In the first place, the proposal of a new precise delimitation of the Iberian Atlantic territories is justified (Note 1) and an argument is made about the syntaxonomy of two phytosociological classes, Querco-Fagetea (Note 2) and Quercetea ilicis(Note 3), which encompass most of the forest associations that have been studied to date in these territories. Other contributions involve proposals for new associations: woody and riparian one of them (Note 4), sclerophyllous the other (Note 5), or the validation of some other bush community already published but in need of a typification (Note 6). Finally, the clarification on the floristic, chorological and ecological delimitation between different associations of Pyrenean oak forests of the westernmost part of the Iberian-Atlantic is included (Note 7).
