Abstract

This paper makes reference to the possibilities of application of alternative treatments for the purification of residual waters in the autonomous community of Galicia. In this region less than 50% of the entities of population of Span are concentrated, with a great dispersion in the distribution. This fact hinders the execution of the demands settled down in the European Directive 91/271/EU. For small communities the natural systems of wastewater are an excellent option to the conventional procedures. Their big advantages are the low installation costs and maintenance, together with their integration in the environment.
