Resumo

In this study, the systematics of the genus Geomalacus (Gastropoda: Pulmonata) is revised. Anatomical andmolecular analyses were conducted on specimens collected between 1985 and 2018. Only three species of Geomalacus are recognized in the Iberian Peninsula: 1. G. maculosus, externally characterized by white spots on the back, without stripes, the genital has ta long atrium-penis and a very short duct of the spermatheca is very short. Its distribution coincides with the Iberian Lusitanian Area. 2. G. squammantinus, has four dark bands on the back, the genital atrium-penis is very short and the spermatheca duct is very long. It is distributed along the center-west of the Iberian Peninsula, from the Algarve to the Central System. 3. G. anguiformis, is characterized by two dark bands on the sides that are delimited by a lighter area on the top, in the genital lacks the atrium-penis and the epiphallus is piriform. It is abundant throughout the south of the Iberian Peninsula, from the Algarve to the Sierra Nevada.G. grandis is considered a synonym of G. maculosus. G. oliveirae and G. anguiformis sensu Simroth, 1981are considered synonymies of G. squammantinus. G. malagensis and G. moreleti are considered synonymies of G. anguiformis.
