Abstract

San Fitoiro oakwood is a regular scrub 32 years old and with a density between 1.500 and 2.000 trees/ha. With 84 ha represents one of the scarce pure oakwoods of Quercus robur in Galicia where had been developed any forestry action. In order to its management, it's essential recognize it as an "espacio sensible objeto de planificación especial" like Plan Forestal of Galicia said. Thus the persistence of the oakwood is the first objetive to rearch. In this sense, the preferable way to protect the stump from the exhaustion, asure the oakwood persistence and improve its production and quatity, would be changing the profit method. This change means go from the scrub to the forest with a conservation forestry treatment by coppice selection.
