Abstract
This work deals with the study of the ruraldevelopment policy at the European Union, starting with theanalysis of their slight beginning in the context of theclassical common agricultural policy and ending with adescription of the nowadays situation. The new communitysupport framework for the period 2007-2013 it is a turningpoint in the evolution of this policy, because for the first timeit has been configured in a single legal framework of its own,and because it is to be financed through a specific financialinstrument the European Agricultural Fund for RuralDevelopment (EAFRD)
