Zusammenfassung

For the first time, this edition presents Hartman von Aue’s Ereck in a textual edition that closely follows the manuscript, offering new access to this first Arthurian romance in the German language. Instead of reconstructing the author’s 12th century text from the legacy of the Ambraser manuscript, it only cautiously normalizes and corrects a reproduction of all original sources with philological commentary and a New High German translation.
