Abstract

The studied harvestmen (543 specimens of 13 species) were collected using pitfall traps (53 traps replaced on a fortnightly basis) in 1977-78 on 10 localities from Monte Pedroso (NE-Santiago de Compostela). Homalenotus quadridentatus and Odiellus seoanei showed a low niche breadth index value (N2) despite being abundant, while Leiobunum blackwallii and Ischyropsalis hispanica had broader niches with very few specimens. Phenological plots of the most abundant species are presented. Species accumulation curves suggest a reliable sampling, although biases in sampling or specimen recovery cannot be ruled out. Localities with a more different specific composition are heather-gorse and gallery forest. Phalangium opilio and O. seoanei form an assemblage associated with heather-gorse
