Abstract
The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of the international fragmentation of production in a context of economic integration. The study shows that the advance of global value chains acts as a factor of reconfiguration of the relationships inside the regional blocks (intra-block), leading even to a certain reversion of the integration process itself (regional disintegration). The analysis uses trade in value-added information from the TiVA database (OECD, WTO), and focuses on the experience of North American countries, which share an integration process (NAFTA) since 1994.
