Abstract

This paper gathers an investigation about how to determine the degree of mobility of clasts on beaches of boulders developed in granite. We used the durometer Equotip. The study has been developed in a sector of Galicia’s coast (NW Spain). Block sizes vary, exceeding 2 m long at its longest axis. Statistical analysis shows the variability of the data across the beach profile. Generally, medium size boulders (height 3.4 m) showing higher hardness, while the upper level are lower. However, at this level also appear with very high boulder's values, which is indicative of the continual movement of boulder along the whole profile.
