Abstract

The title of this piece may be a little misleading because things have changed very rapidly of late. Brexit is no longer the main problem the EU has to mend. UK membership of the EU is not an absolute need for European integration and, at the same time, European integration is not an absolute need for to Britain. As for the territorial tensions as may in the future arise inside the UK after the consummation of the Brexit, we cannot say for sure. However, one would dare say that a total break up by the nations who voted “Remain”, is unlikely. Europe, on its turn, must face up the Covid-related problems, as well as the excesses of globalisation and the overwhelming Chinese challenge.
