Resumo

The tourist city of sun and beach has its boom in the plethora of Fordist mass tourism. Successive economic crises have forged its transformation, squeezing the financial profitability of its real estate assets. Without ceasing to be production spaces for the provision of services, the value of its built environment and its rental profitability attracts investment and new functions that are reflected in urban and tourist planning. Its transformation during the neoliberal counter-reform, the 2008 systemic crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic leaves its historical patth and marks the challenges of its future evolution.
