Abstract
Trees have a special meaning in various curative or propitiatory rites, among them, those related to fertility. In this article we expose the Christianization of one of them which provoke the breakup of the rite into two similar ones, and, as a complement, several examples of similar rites in Galicia and in the rest of Europe.
