Abstract

According to theologians’ view, grandeur and glories that characterize Virgin Mary are summarized in her name, that is why it has been subject to many interpretations both before and after the spread of its festivity to the Universal Church. Consequently, the multiple readings it has aroused offer an exhaustive synopsis of Marian doctrine preached by the Catholic Church and emphasized during the Counter-Reformation, so in this article, basing on them, we propound a rapprochement to it and we search for its presence in the visual arts consecrated to the Mother of God. With this approach, our last target is to look at significances and implications of Marian artistic representations in greater detail, in order to understand them in all of their depth.
