Abstract

In order to generate trust among market participants, more and more digital platforms set up online reputational feedback systems. Users can express their opinion regarding goods, services, the people that offer and supply these, or their contracting partners; and those opinions are considered by other users while making their own economic decisions. The progress of online commerce requires such systems to be reliable, something which demands an appropriate legal order, where rules on unfair commercial practices will play a major role. Nevertheless, it seems desirable to undertake a debate on whether it would be useful to pass rules specifically dedicated to online reputational feedback systems.
