Resumo

This paper aims to demonstrate the existence of Pleistocene glaciers which developed on the low-altitude mountains of the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and their importance as a differentiated phenomenon. The forms described correspond both to the presence of an ice cap in the higher reaches of the Xistral Mountains and to the presence of small isolated local glaciers. In summary, this site presents the most extensive glaciation at such a low altitude described in the whole continental Atlantic region with a minimum estimated Surface area of 20 km2. When the glaciers reached their maximum extension the local ELA must have been situated close to 850 m.
