Abstract

This paper deals with new paleolithic sites in a previously unkonwn region in NW Iberia, the Depresión de Monforte, filled withQuaternary deposits that have yielded a great number of archaeological sites. Due to this discovery an archaeological work was carried out, assesting the archaeological potencial of this area. In the basin of Monforte we have recognized a continuous settlement along the Middle and Upper Pleistocene, thus becoming the only place in NW Iberia where settlement and environmental evolution can be studied during the whole Pleistocene.
