Resumo

The simulation of a temporary disability (TD) for psychological reasons in order to obtain an economic benefit and not attending to workplace is a serious problem that affects negatively all society (v.gr. high public spending, overcrowding primary care, lack of motivation, decreased productivity and quality in companies, etc.). This is particularly relevant for conducting the assessment process the hypothesis of malingering. Thus, assessment must be carried out taking into account the malingering hypothesis. In addition, it must analyze the discriminant and predictive validity of data. These two recommendations improve the differential diagnosis. In this regard, the purpose of this study is contrast the answers of two groups through manipulation instructions for completing MMPI-2 (honest answers vs feign answers). There is a group of 150 subjects lay in psychopathology must feign a temporary disability on account of mental disorder. The multiple statistical analysis between both groups prove that subjects have the ability to feign, and also scored so high on scales that they believe could be cause of a disability from mental disorder. When there are high scores in Depresssion, Psicastenia and Schizophrenia (2/7/8), subscales Harris-Lingoes are a good source of support for a differential diagnosis between a psychotic disorder and an anxiety disorder related to temporary disability.
