Resumo

We were moved to do this work by a growing interest about knowing realities, deeply and up to details, about the behaviour of the twenty-five first Diagnosis Related Groups, during 1.996 in the province of A Coruña, in all of the Sergas Hospitals: Juan Canalejo, Universitario de Santiago and Arquitecto Marcide, as well as the evaluation of the users geographical origin and its influence on the appearance of certain diseases, in few words, the variety of patients or casuistry. The objectives were knowing what kind of patients are more often admitted in the province of A Coruña hospitals, rating them by their ages, sex and territorial origin; knowing the most common main diagnosis, as well as the applied therapies, and at last evaluating the needings of population according to the variability of the attended patients. 26.906 hospital admissions were studied, which correspond to the first 25 DRG´s with a higher frequence. The most frequent admissions are relatives to pregnancy, birth and postpartum, digestive, circulatory and respiratory system in this order. More than a half of the patients are under 44 years, and a 66% were women. The DRG with a higher percent in cities was angina pectoris, and the one in the inner population were the inguinal and femoral hernia in people elder than 17.
