a project corresponding to the 2016 call of the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society (CSO2016-75470-R). Led by the Complutense University of Madrid, it has the participation of teams from the universities of Malaga and Santiago de Compostela, as well as other centres outside Spain. The preparation of the monographic has been carried out within the framework of this project and has had contributions from members of PAITUR-Ciudad as well as from other specialists in tourism and city. In this sense, the editors of the monographic wish to show our gratitude to the group of people and entities that have made this work possible: the authors, the evaluators, the BAGE editorial team and the AGE itself, as well as the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities as the funding entity of the research project and, therefore, of this monographic.
