Abstract

This study aims to design and build a device that monitors the performance of pedaling activity in terms of postural control of the degree of back/forward tilted of the pelvis. In addition, a vibration feedback system is installed on this device that will be activated based on a system of rules and will provide the cyclist with information to adopt a specific position. The device allows to register a pelvic position and is configurable in terms of the time that the user must be outside or inside that position to activate or deactivate the vibration. Finally, the cyclist's ability to produce power in a position close to the maximum forward tilted is analyzed. For this, a functional assessment is carried out on 20 subjects with an incremental ramp protocol to determine the maximum aerobic power achieved. Pelvic position is recorded throughout the test. Cyclist natural position is then compared with a position close to the maximum forward tilted previously recorded for each subject. Heart rate and pedaling rate variables are also obtained during all assessments and are integrated with the postural record to complete the analysis.
