Abstract

In this work the mechanisms of biological action of different drugs with potential anticancer activity are explored. These studies constitute the first steps in the basic research against cancer, as they aim at understanding the key factors that determine the biological activity of these drugs. This information on the structure-activity relationship helps to develop a rational design of new drugs with improved efficacy that could let us overcome problems such as the severe side effects of classical antitumor agents and the acquired resistance to these treatments.
