Abstract

Francisco Becerra was a stonemason from Trujillo (Cáceres, Spain) who lived in the second half of the sixteenth century and was the author of numerous buildings both in Extremadura and America. He filled several important offices related to building in the viceroyalties of Nueva España and Perú. Today, he is regarded aas one of the main introducers of classicist purism in Spanish American architecture.
