Resumo
The author studies the birth of the revolutionary left in Uruguay, locating it politically and ideologically with respect to other currents of the time. He emphasizes organic aspects, identifying people, groups, origins, and previous political trajectories, and intellectual aspects, analyzing the different proposals which were debated in those years and which later became the bases of different groups’ formation.
