Resumo

The Local Administration, because of its proximity to the citizen must provide a series of basic services that are its own. However, every Administration to exercise its competencies must have sufficient financial capacity, something that most of our municipalities lack. Being this, the framework where this work is inserted, to identify the effect of the population size on the budgetary structure. The quantitative dimension of the population variable is related to the evolution and variation of the budget liquidation, seeing how this will be conditioned by the number of people to whom to provide local services. The study is developed from a comparative study that analyzes the centrality and budgetary dispersion as the population varies, and which is completed with the analysis of correlation and asymmetry between the two linked variables. It is revealed that that management, financial autonomy and flexibility in budget management are directly proportional to population size. The period analyzed is the period 2011-2015, while the study of space and the object of contrasting the results obtained in terms of administrative code and populating of the Autonomous Communities of Galicia and Extremadura.
