Resumo

Since 2006, when the fieldwork related to the “Catálogo Galego de Árbores Senlleiras” begun, within the framework of a collaboration agreement between the Ministry of Environment and the University of Santiago de Compostela, more than 1100 specimens and formations throughout the Galician geography that correspond to 153 species have been visited, measured and photographed. Among the specimens studied, a group of 43 individuals or groups was highlighted, corresponding to 25 species, which should be included in the catalog because they have sufficient merit. The species with the highest number of records, among all the specimens studied and among the 43 that are proposed to be included in the catalog are the pedunculated oak (Quercus robur L.) and the chestnut (Castanea sativa Mill.). The information and data obtained indicate that the future of the “Catálogo Galego de Árbores Senlleiras” is insured, with many specimens / formations already possessing or will possess in the near future the attributes required to be part of this select group.
