Abstract

The game is a natural human activity and, among its virtues, is promoting the movement, which is the fundamental part of the development of the child. The child finds in the game a way to integrate into the environment, assimilating a reality that should be educational, communicative and flattering social interaction. The games have evolved and diversified along the history, being the popular and traditional games those that are transmitted from generation to generation and that remain alive in our culture. The curriculum of the second cycle of early childhood education in Galicia defends the educational importance of the game, giving special relevance in the area of self knowledge and personal autonomy, which is also references to knowledge and empowerment of the popular and traditional games. This work is shown as an educational project which center of interest are the popular and traditional games to apply in the classroom of 5 years of early childhood education. This subject allows us to elaborate a multidisciplinary and integrated unit that, in addition to showing content marked in legislation, provides a series of essential values to the social and moral development of children.
