Abstract

UNASUR is a space for regional integration, both economically and socially and there fore also in the tourism sector. Ecuador, a member of UNASUR, is a country with economic structure dependent of the primary sector, which in recent years has prompted plans and programs in tourism in order to seek strategies that contribute to economic development. Following previous research work for the Ecuadorian tourism, in this study the economic impact of inbound tourism is analyzed in the context of the UNASUR and Ecuador. Despite limitations in the available statistical information, an econometric analysis is performed whose results confirm the relevance that tourism sector has on the economies of UNASUR, for the period 1995-2013 .
