Abstract
Through the evolution of the concepts of memory and monument we can understand the phenomenon of recovery of tombs in the late Middle Ages, as a reflect of moral and social status of individuals or groups. In the graves there are reflected aspects such as humility or charity, virtues whose practice contributes to the celestial immortality, while heraldry or location of the grave are used to promote terrestrial immortality. Obsequies and funerary monuments have helped to keep the royal memory, and in the case of the knights, their clothes show their status, both as men of war and as Miles Christi.
