Abstract

The article intends to explore the meaning of trees in Rosalíade Cstro’s literature, from a careful examination of the image “cedars of our Lebanon” in the poem “¡Jamás lo olvidaré...!” (‘En las orillas del Sar’, 1884). When analysing to what extent cut-off trees act as memorials of a loss, it is possible to recognise in the poem the mark of different cultural discourses.
