Resumo
In April 17th 1912 the central path of a hybrid (annular-total) Solar eclipse traversed Galicia passing through O Barco de Valdeorras. It was observed from that location by a scientific commission led by the then well-known astronomer and science communicator Josep Comas i Solà. In this paper we analyze the significance of the main technologic innovation successfully demonstrated by Comas in this eclipse (a movie-camera prism spectrograph to study the temporal evolution of the flash spectrum of the Sun�s chromosphere), and we address the impact that this astronomical phenomenon had on the daily life of the town
