Abstract

Antón Avilés, honoured in the Día das Letras Galegas 2003, collaborated in several media in his life. His closer approach to journalism was in Barbanza, a fortnightly publication of Noia (1988-1989), in which he expressed his voices of poet, neighbour and politic. Under the signatures Ulises Fingal, Hércules Poirot and Antón Avilés, the author of Taramancos approached topics such as local life, politics, culture and education. The present and future of Galicia and Colombia, his two mother countries, appeared in articles full of emotion and lyric but also with irony and sincerity. Ulises, who crosses his verses, also seals in the journalism of Antón Avilés, with the desire to change everything that paralysed the project he thought for his country.
