Abstract

Introduction: The endoscopic sinus surgery has becomes an acceptable technique for the treatment of chronic nasosinusal diseases. Since 1995 we have been using gradually this procedure, and nowadays this is the elective surgical technique. Materials and Methods: A preliminary study of 80 endoscopic procedures in 45 cases (35 bilateral) between 1997-1998 by Messerklinger technique is presented. The cases included chronic nasosinusal diseases, a larger number of part nasosinusal polyposis and sinusitis and mucocele also. Results: The 87% (39 patients) of cases felt a large improvement. The other 13% (6 patients) felt they were better. We only had an 8.75% minor complications rate. There was not major complications. Discussion: The endoscopic nasal is a good surgical technique for the treatment of chronic nasosinusal diseases. In experienced hands, the major complications are been an exception.
