Resumo
The sistemic administration of antimicrobials has shown its effectiveness as an adjuvant treatment in several forms of periodontitis. Nowadays, trying to reach the same success with minor adverse effects, are developed some systems of pharmacologic application at local level (periodontal pocket). Some mechanisms of controlled release, full of antiseptic substances (Perio chip®), or antibiotic, as the tetraciclin fibres (actisite®), appear as a real alternative to sistemic antibiotherapy, as an adjuvant treatment to scaling and root planning to reach the infection´s control in refractory periodontitis.
