Abstract

A single implant-supported restoration is a highly predictible treatment far the replacement of a missing tooth. This treatment must satisfy functional and esthetic requeriments. Actually is easy to achieve function in a implant-supported restoration while optimal esthetic is a challenging goal. Titanium abutments can transluce a greyish discolouration through the peri-implant tissues, limiting esthetic results. Because of this, ceramic abutments have been developed, being a promising altemative. Aim: This clinical case describes an upper central incisor that has been restored with an individual single-tooth implant restoration using the prosthetic abutment synOcta® In-Ceram Blank (Straumann, Waldenburg, Switzerland). Clinical case: A 38-year-old patient underwent a extraction of an upper central incisor because of a horizontally fracture . This tooth was replaced with an !TI® implant (Straumann) 4.1 mm/ 10+ mm, which was restored with the synOcta® In-Ceram Blank (Straumann) abutment and an all-ceramic crown. Satisfactory esthetic result was achieved. Conclusion: The prosthodontic restoration with crowns and ceramic abutments allows predictible esthetic results because of its better simulation of the natural teeth's optical properties.
