Zusammenfassung
In this paper a reflection will be made about the broad possibilities offered, as a content communication tool, by Virtual Reality and Immersive and Interactive visualization systems, with special emphasis in its pedagogical approach towards museums and public spaces. Main design and implementation factors and con-straints, in the deployment of this kind of media into exhibits and expositions are analyzed. Two relevant case studies are presented, allowing a broad analysis of the most usual design and development techniques of this kind of projects. Also some of the most common procedures in providing the applica-tions with a coherent, didactic and learning-oriented content will be discussed. Botafumeiro VR project shows the basic concepts, inherent to virtual environments, of immersion, interaction, feedback and presence. The Submarine Voyage project is an example of the classic genre, within VR, of Virtual Walkthroughs.
