Abstract
It is not an easy task to explain the current conditions of researches on Medieval Spanish Art. Previous steps undertaken with the aim of granting this specific field within the Humanities a scientific profile should be taken into account. This entails paying attention to the whole process, including the early moments of the History of Medieval Spanish Art as well as to the last approaches. It is important to emphasize the role of the University as a catalyst of research and as training centre for several generations throughout the twentieth century. Following the Teacher-Fellows’ scheme, we try to establish a generational structure allowing us to summarize the circumstances in which researchers develop their work and their most relevant contributions.
