Abstract

In this work, it has been studied the behavior of aqueous solutions of glucosamine used as absorbent phase in the carbon dioxide capture process using an air-lift reactor. The experimental results indicate that the reagent (glucosamine) shows a similar behavior related to absorption rate, than previously observed for aqueous solutions of other amines widely used for carbon dioxide capture. The value of mass transfer rate has been determined, as well as the effect of these operation conditions on this parameter value and gas-liquid interfacial area, such as amine concentration, pH or gas flow rate.
