Sexo, género y agresión. Análisis de la relación en una muestra de universitarios

Abstract

The purpose of this work is to analyze the relationship between different types of aggressive behaviour (physical, verbal, indirect, reactive and proactive) and sex/gender. Unlike most earlier studies, we considered to verify whether there are significant differences in aggressive behaviour, not only by sex (men-women), but also in terms of gender identity (Masculinity-Femininity). The sample used consisted on 204 students al the University of Santiago de Compostela. Results indicate that men have the highest scores in most aggressive behaviours studied, excepting indirect and reactive ag-gression where no differences by sex were observed. The analysis of the relationship between gender and aggression reveals that, regardless of sex, Masculinity is linked to the performance of most aggressive behaviours studied.
