Abstract

The last decades have been defined by the vertiginous rhythms reached by the spatial and the territorial changes. At the same time, the issues regarding Geography have placed themselves in the middle of a debate of social sciences. This contribution interprets the way in which one of these changes has affected Spain, especially its Geographical Community. It is a collectivity in which we integrate ourselves, with a significant University component and a leadership taken over by the Association of Spanish Geographers (Asociación de Geógrafos Españoles, AGE). The hopeful or menacing future of the Geographers' Community will depend on its reaction to the challenge of a new Knowledge with a strong spatial imprint.
