Zusammenfassung
The configuration process of the European Area of Higher Education is analyzed and it is put in relation to that of the European Area of Research. In this context, I discuss the part which medieval studies could play in a solid comprehension of the gestation, development, and consolidation of Europe and the existing difficulties in carrying forward the proposal of a necessary integration of these studies in degrees in Arts and Humanities are exposed. The role of medieval studies in graduate and postgraduate levels is also contemplated.
