Resumo
This paper focuses on three 19th century architectural spaces specially related to women, which will serve to cast an interpretation that includes the different scopic economies which they could lodge, grounded on literary texts of three contemporary Spanish writers –Juana de Vega, Fanny Garrido and Emilia Pardo Bazán–. The gazes of admiration from the balcony, the gazes of desire towards the theatre boxes, and the gazes of curiosity from the domestic glass bow windows –“galerías”– will be contemplated in the frame of both formal and aesthetic features of those spaces.
