Abstract
In this paper; an integrated econometric model of shipping markets for dry cargo and oil is presentad. First of all; the evolulion of the main variables related lo intemational seabome trade is analysed; and then an econometric model; made of four behavioural equations and an equality; is estimated. Freight rate; timecharter rent; the proportion of combinad carriers in each market and the lay-up tonnage are explained in the behavioural equations. Finally; the equation that explains the long-term performance of the shipping markets is estimated; i.e. broke-up tonnage; and new-buildings tonnage and prices
