Resumo
This paper analyzes the relationship between budgetary appropriations and the quality of correctional institutions during the Popular Party administration. After examining the evolution of the opening appropriations of the correctional programs, I deflate the appropriation figures and relate them to the number of inmates. Finally, I study specific quality indicators of the correctional system in order to find out the extent to which its evolution is affected by the budgetary policy implemented by the administration.
