Abstract

This article presents the most innovative and conclusive items of Mokienko’s theory, contained in his work Fraseoloxía Eslava (1980/1989), translated in 2000 by E. Guerbek. Some of them are: the importance granted to the literal meaning of the constituent lexems of an idiom as well as to its inner form as a whole, the transcendency entailed in including dialectalisms as an object of study, the crucial role of the diachronic perspective and the analysis of idiomatic variants. Also, an analysis is made on how important Mokienko’s theory of semantic-structural modelability was in the panorama of European research, as well as a brief comment on its translation into Galician
