Abstract
With this lecture I would like to pay tribute to Mikel Dufrenne’s work Phenoménologie de l’experience esthétique to mark the fiftieth anniversary of its edition. But, in view of the denseness of this work it would be impossible to try to honour it throughout, so what I’ve decided is to focus my attention on what I think is one of the most important elements of any aesthetic thought: the characterization of the aesthetic object as an expressive one. I will try an explanation to show the process in which the aesthetic object turns expressive through our aesthetic perception. We will see that this ability to express a world, exclusive feature of the aesthetic object, is just what makes this object, that appears at first as an object more of the world, reveal all its depth at the end.
