Abstract
After decades of being undervalved be cause of its supposedly superficial and unscientific nature, the historical biography is reappearing today with enormous force. To explain ints course it is necesary to employ a broad and comprehensive approach. In this paper I am going to clarify the social and historial factors which allow us to understand the past and the present of the historical biography. I then propose to stress the importance of emphasizing the social and prosopographic aspects within biographical works. One should avoid at all times a personalized or hagiographic study.
