Abstract
After the two-year period1992-1993, when Galica was less affected by the recession than the Spanish economy as a whole, 1994 usheredin a recovery at both levels, which firmed as the year unfolded. However, in 1994 Galicia's GDP growth ratewas lower than that of the general economy. This paper analyzes a series of structural and cyclical factorsthat help to explain the performance of the region's economy, signalling certain bottlenecks that hamper the consolidation of its growth and, by extension, its convergence with surrounding regions.
